The School Leadership Program offered by Asian College of Teachers (ACT) is a one week program which is tailor-made to suit the requirements of the candidates and provide them with a feel of the Malaysian and Singaporean education excellence. The program focuses on instilling the candidates regarding the Malaysian and Singaporean education and school system and to familiarise them with the local culture while travelling and experiencing the local lifestyle. The program includes preparing educational leaders, senior teachers, stake holders, rectors, middle managers in schools and experienced teaching professionals with hands-on experience and school visits along with observing differentiated, child-centred instruction and experiential learning. Candidates will get the scope to speak to the leaders and educators regarding the policies and teacher preparation time, various expectations, collegial work, feedback and peer observation. The one week study tour program is specially designed for leaders willing to upgrade their leadership skills by a notch and to gain a complete understanding about the education system of Malaysia and Singapore. The candidates will also get an opportunity to visit the reputed schools and universities. All in all, the program has been tailored to give candidates a chance to explore latest pedagogy along with architecture, nature and technology in an in-depth manner.

This is a tailor-made a professional development program for Indian school teachers and academic leaders, which we believe, are essential to help the candidates to gain essential teaching and learning skills and knowledge toward the 21st century.

The program has been divided to in-house workshop courses (Day 2 to 4) and school tours in Kuala Lumpur (Day 4) and Singapore (Day 5 to 7). It is specifically designed for better and experiential learning. The courses will be conducted by highly experienced trainers who have vast and diversified experiences and knowledge in their respective subject matters.

Malaysia is an attractive and diverse nation with many places of interest which is located in Southeast Asia, between Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. The country's economy has been going strong for years now. On the contrary to what some people still believe, Malaysia is not a third world country. It may be physically small, but Singapore is an economic giant. It has been Southeast Asia's most modern city for over a century. The city is a blending pot of Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and English cultures and religions. Its unique ethnic heritage affords guests with an array of sightseeing and gastronomic opportunities. A full calendar of traditional festivals and holidays are celebrated throughout the year adds to its cultural appeal. Additionally, Singapore offers luxury hotels, delectable cuisine and provides the scope for a great shopping experience. The island nation of the Republic of Singapore lies a bit ahead of the Equator in Southern Asia. The country includes the island of Singapore and fifty-eight or so smaller islands. Because of its efficiency and determination of the government, Singapore has become a flourishing country that shines bright in trade and tourism sector and acts as a model for developing nations. The capital city, also called Singapore, covers about a third of the area of the main island.

Blended Learning with LAMS

Course Description :
LAMS is a free, easy-to use but comprehensive learning design authoring tool that can help Faculty design blended/ online courses easily. This course aims to give an introduction to LAMS plus explaining the pedagogical knowledge and practices that underpin the design of an effective blended/online learning course.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this workshop, the participants will be able to:

  • Describe why Faculty needs to consider a blended/online learning approach for their courses to engage the learners of today.
  • List the gaps in current e-learning courses and how to mitigate these gaps using LAMS.
  • Explain what Learning Design is and what LAMS can offer to do this effectively.
  • Describe and apply the steps to create a LAMS online learning sequence as part of a blended/online learning aspect for their lesson.
  • Identify the appropriate parts of their lesson to use LAMS from best practice examples. The new system must include the following:

Creating Deep and Interactive Learning

Course Description :
This workshop is designed to equip educators and trainers on various teaching and training methods that cultivate deeper and interactive learning or training. A planning framework with the idea of constructive alignment enables the educators and trainers to effectively create deep and interactive activities by using the facilitation and inquiry-based learning.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this training, the teachers will be able to:

  • Comprehend the concept of deep and Interactive learning through a brief “banal lesson”
  • Explain the importance of creating deep and Interactive learning using constructive learning framework.
  • Demonstrate the essential teaching and learning skills
  • Facilitation and Observation Skills
  • Inquiry-based and Collaborative Learning.

Day 3:

Design thinking for educators

Course Description :
Innovation is crucial in today’s organization. Customers need and wants are changing faster than the speed of light. This scenario also applies in education sector. What is the business of education? What are the needs of customers in education? How can educators deliver the value of education? There’s a dire need for educators to work even much closer internally and collaboratively. New innovation will spark from more heads than one. Innovation is like the missing bridge to cross to the other side.

In this 1-day workshop, participants will be introduced to human-centered innovation tool called design thinking. During the workshop participants will discuss with deeper insights on customers pain points and attempt to innovate from there. They will work collaboratively in the workshop and try out varieties of ideas into action.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this training, the teachers will be able to:

  • Illustrate the design thinking 5-steps methodology
  • Profile learners needs and pain points as source of innovation
  • Create learning solutions
  • Work in collaboration to design new ideas

Day 4:

Learning Journey to International Schools (KL)

Activities on The Learning Journey to International School under Taylor’s Education Group (TEG) where participants will be able to experience the school’s unique pedagogical system and curriculum. Visit to Nexus International School (Putrajaya).
