Anjali’s decision to enroll in ACT’s TEFL/TESOL program stemmed from her desire to enhance her existing skills as a spoken educator. Encouraged by a colleague’s referral, she embarked on the course with high expectations, eager to expand her teaching repertoire and effectively cater to the needs of teenagers.

However, upon beginning the program, Anjali realized that the course she had enrolled in focused primarily on TEFL with Business English, rather than what she had anticipated. This misalignment with her expectations left her feeling disappointed and somewhat unsettled, as it did not cater to her specific teaching goals and the age group she wished to work with.

As a current teacher at a government school, Anjali’s primary objective was to acquire skills and knowledge relevant to teaching teenagers. The specialization in Business English, while valuable in its own right, did not align with her immediate needs and professional aspirations. Despite her disappointment, Anjali acknowledges the value of the course content and recognizes that it may benefit educators with different teaching contexts and goals. However, she remains hopeful that she will have the opportunity to pursue a more suitable course in the future that aligns more closely with her objectives as a teacher.

Anjali’s experience highlights the importance of clear communication and alignment of expectations when enrolling in educational programs. She may consider exploring alternative courses or avenues for professional development that better meet her specific needs and goals as an educator.
