Asian College of Teachers’ School Leadership Program is a one-week extensive course designed to provide aspirants with the opportunity to observe and learn child-centered teaching techniques, communicate with experienced educational leaders regarding teaching strategies and get acquainted with the Finnish education system, along with discovering the beautiful scenery and culture of the Scandinavian country.

The School Leadership Program is a thorough one week program designed to give the candidates a feel of the Finnish education excellence. The program focuses on acquainting the candidates about the Finnish education and school system and get familiar with the local culture while experiencing the opulent Finnish nature. The program includes preparing experienced or aspiring educational leaders with hands on experience and school visits along with observing differentiated, child-centred instruction and experiential learning. Candidates will get the opportunity to speak to the leaders and educators regarding the strategies and teacher preparation time, various expectations, collegial work, feedback and peer observation. The one week study tour program is specially designed for educational leaders, senior teachers, stake holders, rectors, middle managers in schools who are willing to upgrade their leadership skills by a notch and to gain a complete understanding about Finnish education. The candidates will also get a chance to visit the future school of Finland. All in all, the program has been tailored to give candidates an opportunity to explore Finnish pedagogy along with architecture, nature and technology in an in-depth manner.

The educational visits will take place in some of the schools which are not only best in Finland but also in the world and has been highly appreciated by visitors. The school visits will give the candidates a scope to observe and learn about the everyday activities in schools. Besides the visits, candidates will also get to attend interesting and informative workshops on several relatable topics that will give an idea about the future schools, virtual space, phenomena based learning etc. Candidates will be guided within the Helsinki area in Southern Finland proceeding to Oulu and up to Rovaniemi on the Arctic Circle.

Finland is the sixth largest country in Western Europe and the country shares its borders with Sweden in the northwest, Norway in the north and Russia in the east. To the south is the Gulf of Finland with Estonia on the other side. Finland is a Nordic country and together with Scandinavia, is situated in the geographical region of Fennoscandia. Culture wise Finland has always been part of the Western civilization and among the Nordic countries (together with Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland), but Finnish culture is deeply influenced by Russian culture but over the years it has evolved into a distinct Finnish culture.

Helsinki is the capital of Finland. It is a vibrant city that has a seaside and is full of beautiful islands and great green parks. The city has a laid back rhythm yet at the same time refreshingly active in terms of both the number and quality of restaurants and picturesque beauty.

Hollola is the municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Päijänne Tavastia region.

Suomenlinna is also known as the ‘fortress of Finland’ which straddles a cluster of car-free islands connected together by bridges. The UNESCO World Heritage site was originally built by the Swedes as Sveaborg in the mid 18th century that includes several museums, former bunkers and fortress walls, as well as Finland's only remaining WWII submarine which are quite fascinating to explore.

Apart from visiting the beautiful and breathtaking places, the Leadership Program in Finland will provide the candidates with the necessary exposure required to upgrade oneself as the educational leader of tomorrow. Day 1 :

  • Arrival to Helsinki
  • Accommodation in Helsinki

Day 2 :

  • Welcome address.
  • Opening of the Finnish Education Study Tour
  • Introduction to Finnish Education System and discussion about specific features of the Finnish education (Expert session)
  • Lunch
  • Comprehensive school visit

Day 3 :

  • Start from hotel by bus from Helsinki to Hollola.
  • Visit to kindergarten & primary school (Hollola)
  • Lunch
  • Visit to secondary school (Hollola)
  • Back in Helsinki

Day 5:

  • Visit to teacher training school
  • Lunch
  • Workshop & Question and Answer session, Receiving certificates
  • Break
  • Gala Dinner

Day 6:

  • Visit to Suomenlinna Island
  • Lunch
  • Helsinki sight seeing
  • Shopping and free time in Helsinki

Day 7:

  • Departure Day

Interested candidates can avail the program at a fee of 1, 52,000 INR

In addition to the program fee the participants need to pay approx 65,000 INR – 70,000 INR for airfare, visa and insurance.

Date : 21st - 28th August 2018 and 1st to 8th October 2018 (Schools in Finland close on 3 June & reopen on 12 Aug)

  • Detailed itinerary including, hotels, timings, venues etc will be provided 15 days prior to travel
  • Veg. & Non Veg. Lunches will be provided on all days, all dinners except the Gala Dinner will be on your own, there are several Indian restaurants & suitable list will be provided
  • GST @ 5.00 % will be extra at actual

  • 50 % at the time of Registration & balance 50 % is to be paid 30 days prior to departure / in case departure is less than 30 days 100% payment will be needed at the time of registration
